The fourth edition of PSL is nearer than it has ever been. Lets look out at Karachi Kings Players-2019 PSL Karachi Kings Squad/PSL 4 Squads.
2019 PSL Karachi Kings Squad|KK Team Players List
Karachi were once the most expensive team in the PSL and given Multan Sultan’s termination, they have regained the status. The team is owned by ARY owner, Salman Iqbal who is making huge strides in the Cricketing fraternity,as far as influence is concerned, due to participation in Cricketing leagues.
Having started on a disappointing note, Karachi have outdone their best performances in each of last two years. While they came 4th the first year, they ended up 3rd in the last 2 seasons. They were extremely unlucky the last season having got off to a flyer with 3 consecutive wins before losing their Captain. Well, that’s not all. The substitute captain,Shahid Afridi, too was ruled out of the tournament. They did well to finish in the Top 3.
Let’s look and analyze Karachi’s team for the Year…..
In the retention stage, Karachi went for their Star Performers in Babar Azam, Muhammad Amir and Ravi Bopara. Hard hitting Colin Munro was retained too and so was Captain Imad. How can we forget Ingram here or even Rizwan?
Before he was Karachi’s star, Babar was Pakistan’s star. He is in the form of his life, claiming the 2000 ODI runs milestone and being the second fastest to do that. He has just shattered Virat Kohli’s record for the fastest to 1000 T20I runs and his is the highest average in Tests for the year. He provides that stability at the top, allowing others to play freely while holing onto one end. The guy is a machine. What else would you want? In the PSL too, Babar Azam has 708 runs in 23 innings at a staggering average of 33.71 and sits comfortably at the 2nd spot. This maybe Karachi’s best retention overall.
Its been over a decade since Muhammad Amir emerged on the scenes. Its been over a decade since he was listed as one of the World’s finest talents. The guy can swing the ball both ways at over 145 KPH and has often been compared to the Great Wasim Akram. The promise, though, has never translated into performance bare a couple of occasions. Amir kick started his PSL campaign with a hattrick against Lahore but is yet to produce a similar performance. I don’t know if he should have been rendered the Platinum category. Despite all the economic frenzy, the major task of a Strike bowler is to pick up Wickets. He hasn’t done that.
Colin Munro is one of the hardest hitters of the Cricketing ball at the moment. His T20 record goes on to speak volumes over his hitting ability. The guy has 3 centuries, while most batsman fail to score 1.He strikes the bowl at 161.3,yet ensuring consistency. This is one heck of a pick. The day Munro fires is the day Karachi can’t lose.
Ravi Bopara performed for Karachi when no one did. In the first season of PSL,the guy scored 329 runs and took 11 wickets(highest aggregates for Karachi that season). Although he hasn’t been able to replicate similar performances, the guy gives you that All Round option while contributing with strategies too.
The Wicket Keeper batsman is in form of his life in List A Cricket. Though never being prolific with he Karachi Kings, his recent may boast Karachi’s chances of victory in PSL 2019.
This guy is class! His records speak for themselves and he made his bat do the talking last year. We do hope that he repeats the feat this year too. If I am going to root Karachi, it is going to be for this guy.
The Left arm pacer has rejuvenated his career after a 5 year gap. Karachi is one of the major reasons for it.The rust they have put into him is irreplaceable. We do hope he returns the trust.
No surprises there.Karachi have retained their Captain. Imad is one of the best bowlers in T20 Cricket in the World. Even if he may not be picking up wickets, he is still bowling economically. He led the team well in the last season. Plus the Captain and Owners share a bond only few could rival.
2019 PSL Karachi Kings Squad-Players Drafted
Karachi went for the Pakistan born Zimbabwean batsman in the Gold category and we are all but surprised. Not that Sikandar is a bad player but because there were bar better players. maybe Sikandar suits Karachi’s plans. Who knows?
What were Karachi thinking? Picking a player who has hardly played International Cricket over the last 5 years. I enjoyed watching him back then but time does have a toll. He averages 21 in T20 Cricket which is pitiable given that he opens for his side. Karachi, nigga you mad?
The leggy is a treat to watch. Not only can he spin the bowl but that height makes each delivery trickier than it really is. He has performed well over the last couple of seasons and Karachi would hope that it stays that way this season.
Karachi may not have made a better decision. He may look mediocre, but he picks up wickets, something Karachi’s strike bowlers fail to do that.
