PSL 2019 Draft is up and we bring to you PSL 2019 Player List, PSL Draft 2019 Team picks and all that you need to know.
PSL Draft 2019-All you Need to Know
The PSL 2019 draft is scheduled for November 20th in Islamabad. While we can all but wait for the event, we may have a few spoilers before the Draft commences.
First things first. Over 500 players have applied for the the Draft with some sites citing the number as high as 634. These include Top Foreign Players and also domestic performers. Some famous names are: ABD,Steven Smith, Brendon McCullum,Shahid Afridi and Muhammad Hafeez. Corey Anderson would also be available for the taking. Players would be available under 5 categories: Platinum,Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. As the name suggests, the Platinum Category contains World leaders in the Game. The emerging category,as the name suggests, is made up of players yet to prove themselves in International Circuit. Rumor holds it that contracted players won’t be allowed to opt out of the part to be played in Pakistan. We do hope that this turns out to be true. Won’t it be a delight seeing your favourite Super Stars in Action?
A few of our favourite players wont be a part of PSL 4. This includes Indian Cricketers thanks to BCCI’s policy of not allowing players to play other leagues. David Warner too wont be a part of the League maybe because of the security concerns. KP retired from all forms of Cricket the last season and hence won’t be available. Duminy has to honour some national commitments and hence wont be part of the League.
We also have several series clashing with the League. For more info Check out:
PSL Draft 2019-Retention
Each teams got upto 10 retentions. While Islamabad and Quetta used their full quota, other teams preferred to go with 8 apiece. For more Info: PSL 4 List of Retained Players-Players Retained by Each Team
Bottom line: Well, Retention Window came up with many surprises. With Afridi leaving Karachi, Lahore releasing Brendon McCullum and Hafeez leaving Peshawar, we got to see events we never anticipated. Well McCullum’s release could be associated with petty performance by the team and by the individual. Afridi isn’t just a player. The guy is a brand. Karachi may not struggle on the field without him but they are bound to sell a few less shirts. The differences with the board could be linked to Afridi’s decision to play T10.
PSL returns to action on 14 Feb 2019.
Extensive discussion on pick order and we have all agreed on 10 retentions, PSL 4 order based on last year's rankings, and a random order for PSL 5.
Franchises to be part of bid comms for sale of rights.
Onwards and upwards!

PSL 4 Draft Date and Time
PSL 4 Draft would commence on 20th November in Islamabad. The Event would be graced by many a Cricketing legends. We do hope to see Viv Richards, Wasim Akram, Dean Jones and Waqar Younus among others. It would take place around 1900 PST and can be viewed on PTV Sports, Geo Super and any channel that would broadcast PSL Live. Well even better, you can tune into PSL Live Streaming for the Live Broadcast.
PSL 4 Draft Pick Order
Lahore Qalandars would get the first pick in the draft owing to their miserable condition in the last season. The 6th team-maybe Multan or Faisalabad- would get the second pick. Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United would go up next respectively.
Series Clashing with PSL 4
PSL begins on 14th February. Unlike the IPL, PSL doesn’t have a window reserved for itself. That leaves numerous players in Doubt for the series. This includes Sri Lanka touring South Africa for 2 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20s. This leaves players with the following nationality in serious doubt. Side by sides we have England playing West Indies. With New Zealand playing Bangladesh, this season may be the grandest yet the least star studded o have ever taken place. That shouldn’t be an issue. Should it? BBL is a success and their are hardly any icons. Cricket sells itself and with a Cricket loving nation starved, PSL may see houseful in Pakistani stages of the tournament.
